SensorGuard is designed to provide the highest level of protection for sensitive electronic devices against unstable AC power, surge events caused by direct lightning strikes and Ground Potential Rise (GPR) due to ground strikes. It protects from power supply voltage drops (brown outs) which cause current surges leading to equipment malfunction and/or failure.

In conjunction with any Surge Protection Devices (SPD’s) already deployed, Sensor Guard protects against all electrical supply and lightning incidents,     delivering significant reductions in capital expenditure on replacement equipment.

Through the alarm functionality provided, control of system outages and engineer deployments is significantly enhanced, substantially reducing operational costs.

New Power Technologies products address two arenas: Electrical protection and Electrical efficiency.  The NewPowerTX technology set is currewntly under development so will be added to this products and technology section later in 2007.

SensorGuard

The sensorguard product range breaks down into two lines: SG0X and SG33

SG0X:
Comprising             SG01 - For Single Phase supplies

SG02 - For Split (or two) phase supplies

SG03 - For Three phase supplies

The SG0X models utilise the same board technology which offers both sensorGuard Lightning protection and montioring of the AC voltage level on one phase. The SGOX models can be offered with 30Amp (standard model) or 60 Amp contactor(s). If other configurations are required this can be quoted for.

SG33:
Comprising                SG33 - For three phase supplies.

The SG33 models comprise the Control box and the Contactor box, housing the isolation contactors and supply connections. The SG33 models can be supplied with 30Amp (standard model), 60Amp or 90Amp contactor(s).  If other configurations are required this can be quoted for.

Suitable for harsh weather and difficult electrical environments

SensorGuard products are designed to withstand an outside plant environment.  SensorGuard was tested by third parties such as Telcordia to extremes of temperature, weather and other environmental factors.

The other extreme for a product detecting electrical activity, is a noisy electrical environment.  The SensorGuard Lightning Sensor is designed to trigger upon detection of Lightning activity only, within user settable parameters. To operate within communications networks, the sensor MUST NOT be triggered by the normal activity of such sites. SensorGuard has proved itself beyond doubt in this regard in both Wireline and Wireless sites around the world.  The picture below shows one site in Southern Europe where the RF electrical field was strong and covered many frequencies from low frequency Radio, Television UHF, Cellular and  Microwave.

The SensorGuard lightning sensor settled in standby mode within this extreme electrical environment, until triggered by a piezo electric gas lighter operated within a meters distance. The organisations evaluating SensorGuard stated clearly that if it operated correctly at this site, it would operate virtually anywhere.  These tests have resulted in a number of projects at challenging transmission and telecoms sites.
